The Visalia CRC deacons steward these funds faithfully, directing them to medical bills, travel to treatment, and whatever other needs arise through this battle with cancer. One hundred percent goes to walking with the family — no amount is too small.

We're keeping a chest freezer at the church, stocked with ready-to-heat meals so the family can grab dinner on the hard days — no schedule to keep, no doorbell to answer. Freezer-friendly dishes welcome, and the family has no food allergies or sensitivities, so cook whatever you love.
Drop meals off at Visalia CRC, 1030 S. Linwood, Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and we'll get them into the freezer.

Instructions
Thank you for signing up for the prayer marathon for Nathan Scheele and family. We serve a God who hears our prayers, and we want to dedicate time to go to God on behalf of the Scheeles. We go to God with the full assurance He hears our prayers. God listens to the cries of His people. He is a good God who is sovereign, compassionate, and loving.
This prayer guide is intended to lead you through the block of time that you signed up for. There are Scriptures to read as well as prayer prompts. As you read the Scriptures, pay attention to what the Holy Spirit brings to mind. Feel free to use the Scriptures themselves as a guide to your prayers, or you could use the prayer prompts as a launching-off point.
You do not have to use this guide, but if you would find it helpful to bring structure to this time it’s at your disposal.
God is Sovereign and Mighty
Isaiah 45:5-9
I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other. I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things. “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the LORD, have created it. “Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’?
Prayer prompt: “God, you are high and lifted up. You are the King over the world that You have made. You rule over the world that You have made. You bring the light and the dark. I come before you acknowledging your greatness and giving You all the glory that you deserve.”
Job 42:2
“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”
Prayer prompt: “God, you are capable of all things. There is no lack or inability in you. Nothing You will to be can be stopped.”
God is good
Psalm 116
I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the LORD: “LORD, save me!” The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. The LORD protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me. Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you. For you, LORD, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the LORD in the land of the living. Prayer prompt: God, you have heard my cries before and I am asking you to hear them again. You are a good God who has been good to me in many ways both seen and unseen. Please show your goodness to the Scheele family in these difficult times.
Matthew 7:7-12
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Prayer prompt: God, you are abundantly generous to us. You give us gifts every single second of every day. I praise You for your goodness to me and your people. You invite us to pray, and I am here knocking on your door on behalf of the Scheeles.”
God is a healer
Mark 5:21-42
When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’” But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?” Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.
Prayer prompt: Jesus, we read in Scripture that you are a healer. Even a clutch of the hem of your garment can bring healing. We read in Scripture that you are kind towards those who come to you in full faith, so I come before you on behalf of your servant Nathan Scheele. I know you have the power to heal, so I plead with you to give Nathan this gift.

We join the army of prayer warriors above - I have to say, since you all moved I haven’t had to dig the nest of hair from the girls out of the swimming pool filters 😂😂🙏🙏🙏🙏 blessings and prayers ! PS: has Nathan learned how to use any tools yet ? Well upon miraculous healing that we all are praying for, tell him to get busy -.especially the Saws/all to cut apart the pallets ! Nate, I'm pretty stunned here. This hits me hard. I'm hurting with you and your family. The last few days the lectionary readings I've taught through are in Romans 8. The agony of the groaning creation is so vivid to me. "Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship the redemption of our bodies." Our Christian confession gives us an amazing space to face hardship and brokenness with raw and brutal honesty while right in that space is embedded the Spirit and the hope of the redeemed body. I groan with you my brother and wait expectantly.

Ever since we met you through Hazel, your deep faith has moved us, and you’ve held a spot in our hearts through your adoption path and ministries. Mr Scheele. You have always been and will always be an outstanding role model in so many ways for our son Trent. He has always looked up to you for advice and enjoyed the process of learning with you. Thank you for being such a wonderful Godly man of an example for our son.

Nathan and Melissa, We are very saddened to hear the news of Nathan's diagnosis. Please know that your entire family is constantly in our prayers. As you search for the right treatment, we are praying for clear direction, wisdom, and the absolute best doctors to be placed in Nathan's path. We are also praying for Melissa and the kids, asking God to give you all supernatural strength and peace to carry you through this journey.
