Good News

Thank you for your continued prayers. The Good News is that Nathan's new treatment got approved. The Bad News is that his white blood cell count and neutrophil numbers were too low to get treatment this week. The Good News is that I contacted the myeloma specialist at Stanford and he suggested giving Nathan a shot (neupogen) that will help those numbers increase and the oncologist here started it on Thursday. He had the shot Thursday and Friday. He will have one more shot on Monday and then hopefully we can start the new treatment on Tuesday. The Bad News is that on Tuesday it will be 3 weeks since Nathan has had treatment. As stated in a previous update, Nathan's cancer is aggressive (divides rapidly). It's aggressive because he has a gene mutation that causes quick multiplication. Unfortunately, he also has a gene mutation where the gene designed to stop quick multiplication of cells has been deleted. It is pretty rare to have both of these mutations, but here we are. Needless to say, 3 weeks without treatment is a long time when this is the case. The Good News is that God is Sovereign over it all. There's no bad news that can top that Good News. Job says in Chapter 42, "I know that you can do all things, no purpose of yours can be thwarted." God is an intentional God and all that he does and all that he allows has purpose. And we trust him. Specific Prayer Requests: 1. Pray that Nathan's white blood cell count and neutrophil numbers go up and he is ready for treatment on Tuesday. 2. Pray that this new treatment is SUPER effective with NO negative side effects. 3. Pray that Nathan would get to the point where he can get a Stem Cell Transplant and get to remission.
