The Scheele family

"Whatever is in the cup that God is offering to me, whether it be pain and sorrow and suffering and grief along with the many more joys, I'm willing to take it because I trust him. Because I know that what God wants for me is the very best. I will receive this thing in his name." -Elisabeth Elliot There's been a lot of pain and suffering and grief going on in our house lately. I'm sure there have been many joys too, but sometimes those are harder to see in the midst of pain and suffering. Just when we think that Nathan's pain is "under control", it isn't. I've joined a Multiple Myeloma for people under 50 support group and it has been super helpful. This pain is "normal" the first few months, but as treatment moves forward, the pain will become less. However, in the meantime, it's really hard to watch and even harder to endure. One of our kids woke up with a 103 fever on Saturday morning. It stinks to be sick, but it's a lot harder to be sick around a dad that could get your sickness and it could send him to the hospital. There's also some hard stuff going on with one of our children. Please pray for this unnamed child. God knows. It just all feels like A LOT. Right now we are thankful for moments of peace. Our hearts have peace, but our circumstances are fighting really hard to steal it. We have to remind ourselves that our circumstances come and go, but we cling to the one that neither shifts nor changes. He's steady. He's constant. And best of all, he loves us and wants what is best for us. So, we receive the pain and suffering in Jesus' name knowing this is not the end. Our story is still being written. And, nothing is wasted in God's economy, so somehow he is going to use it all for our good and his glory. PLEASE PRAY... -for Nathan's MRI tomorrow. Pray that he would be able to endure laying flat for as long as needed so they can see what is going on in his hips. -for pain relief. His pain meds were just upped again, so we are hoping for some days of good sleep and rest. -for treatment to be effective. That's the best way to cure all the pain, so we pray it happens quickly and completely. -for our family. This is a stressful and complicated time with having a parent sick and unable to do anything. It's so hard. We have one child in particular that needs SO MANY prayers. -for Melissa to deal with all of it. Thank you once again for all the love and support! It means the world to us!
