Stanford Appointment

makes the heart happy
We are home from Stanford. We are so thankful for the opportunity to now be working with a myeloma specialist! The doctor agreed that the current treatment regimen is not working and has changed things up. Nathan will stop 2 of the 4 medicines and start 2 new medicines over the next 2 months. His cancer numbers will be monitored closely and the myeloma specialist said that we will pivot again if we find this treatment isn't working. We also found out that Nathan has compression fractures in his vertebrae (which is probably why his back hurts so bad), so the doctor wants him to get into radiation oncology ASAP to see what is going on there and see if radiation would be helpful getting him some relief. The myeloma specialist also just reminded us that Nathan's bones are almost all cancer right now and the cancer he has is extremely aggressive. We know this, but a doctor has never come out and said it. It was hard to hear in conjunction with "the current treatment is not working for him". Would you pray against discouragement and fear for us? Also please pray for complete healing for Nathan. We know our God is able no matter what all the tests and "evidence" shows. One of Nathan's Bible readings for today was Psalm 6. Psalm 6:2 says this, "Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint; heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony." CRAZY, RIGHT?! Not really. God's Word is alive and active and that word was for Nathan today. It was for me too. And now it is for you. Be encouraged! God sees you! God loves you! And he wants you to know it! Find him in his Word. He's there! And, he's SO WORTHY to be praised! Please pray once again for this new line of treatment to be effective with no negative side effects. Pray for the myeloma specialist to "see" if anything needs to be changed. Please pray for our hearts to not be discouraged. Today was a good, but tough day. Thank you once again for your love, support, and prayers! And an extra special thank you to the families that took care of our boys when we were at Stanford! We couldn't do this without all the help and support we've been given. We are forever thankful!!!
