Still in the Hospital

Even with great confusion, he knows what is important to him.
Sorry it's taken me so long to update. I was waiting to be able to say that Nathan was home from the hospital, but alas, he isn't. We are going on 11 days in the hospital. Things have improved though. His calcium, sodium, and chloride are all in the normal range. His magnesium and potassium are still a little low, but close to normal. They believe his pneumonia is gone, but he still has to be on 1L of oxygen because his oxygen saturation drops into the 80s without it. His kidney function is at 55% (it was 20% when he went to the hospital). The one thing holding him back is his confusion. Yesterday they changed his pain meds back to morphine to see if that would help his confusion and yesterday he definitely seemed to turn a corner. He's still working out what really happened the past 10 days and what he was sure happened, but didn't. It's really wild. I told him that it wasn't so bad that he was "somewhere else" most of the time. Lying in a hospital bed day after day is like waiting in a waiting room and no one ever calls your name. Torture. He saw his mom and dad for a full 24 hours. He saw our kids playing in the room and got to enjoy watching them. He heard his Impact class leading worship and thought they sounded amazing. He saw friends and talked to them. He even did a Q & A time with a crowd where the people got to come up to the microphone and ask questions. (I may or may not have a video of this one.) Maybe this was God's grace on him. But, I really missed having "normal" conversations with him. I missed him being him because he was always somewhere else doing or seeing something I couldn't fully understand. Yesterday he sent me a text that said, "I miss you too much" and my heart melted. There you are. I knew he was making his way back and it made me so unbelievably happy and grateful. I saw this quote from Corrie Ten Boom this week that says, "When we are powerless to do a thing, it is a great joy that we can come and step inside the ability of Jesus." I can't, but I know Jesus can. Thank you Jesus. Prayer Requests: *Pray that Nathan would get the all clear to come home. Specifically for his "confusion" to completely go away. *Pray that his lungs would be restored and he would be able to breathe on his own without oxygen soon. *Pray that all of his numbers would stay normal and that he would be able to begin treatment again on Monday. *Pray that he gets an appointment at Stanford quickly with a myeloma specialist there. (We've decided to get more specific specialized care since this journey has had such a rough start.) *Pray that Nathan would regain his strength. Sitting in bed for 11 days is not good for your body. *Pray that his pain would continue to be well managed. *Pray that his bones would be strong (and stop releasing calcium into his system). Also, a friend mentioned that I haven't reported back on his pelvis MRI. It was all clear for microfractures, so that is great news!
